You’re required to have a current police check and NDIS worker screening in order to work in aged care. Southern Cross Care can help you apply for a new police check and NDIS check as part of our recruitment process. You'll also need to provide the contact details for two reference checks and undertake a pre-employment functional assessment.
Southern Cross Care offers a number of programs to assist students with entering the industry. Some of these programs include:
• For TAFE students, our placement program offers employment in the industry where you can develop your skills while you complete your certification.
• For school students 15 years or older, apprenticeships and traineeships provide you with valuable employment skills, hands-on industry experience and a nationally recognised qualification, while still completing secondary school qualifications.
• For 2nd and 3rd year nursing students, we offer the opportunity to work as a carer in the industry in one of our homes,where you can develop your skills while you complete your studies.
