"Heaven on Earth" is how Margaret Johnson describes her home at Reynolds Court Retirement Village, Bateau Bay. Margaret and her husband Ray moved into Reynolds Court over two years ago, and despite their roots being elsewhere, they've called Bateau Bay home and haven't looked back.

Margaret, now 77, only hung up her uniform seven years ago after a successful 56-year career as a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in aged care. She now serves as the secretary of the Resident Committee at Reynolds Court, where she is a great asset and gives a voice to the community.

Margaret has picked up new computer skills to assist her as secretary, ensuring she remains an active committee member. She reflects on the transition, "I had to make a u-turn in my life. With overwhelming maintenance and bills, the house became more of a burden than a home."

"If I knew about this place earlier, I would have chosen to downsize sooner. It doesn't stop your life; it streamlines it.”

Margaret and Ray raised their children in Sydney and spent many years in the Mid North Coast. They chose Reynolds Court after hearing positive reviews through word of mouth. The location of Bateau Bay offers everything they could want, including the beach, bowls club, tennis court, shops and eateries, all within arm's reach. She said life here doesn't slow down; it gains momentum.

"It's paradise—the beach, the bird life, and the trees; only a ten-minute walk to Shelly Beach through the national park and seven minutes to Bateau Bay Square Shopping Centre.

"My daughter asked me to return to Sydney, but once she visited and smelled the fresh air and sea salt, she realised I had made the right decision. Not just the location, but the community is so welcoming, full of families and friendly faces.

"The buildings themselves are top quality and the gardens are attended to and very lovely."

“We have the Chapel on site that celebrates Mass twice weekly and the Residential Care Home is close by, which is reassuring if a loved one requires more care, they aren’t far away.”

Reynolds Court offers a lifestyle that is hard to come by. It's more than just a place to live; it's a lifestyle to enjoy for years to come.
